Canadian relatives

Hi Wil

My father's first cousins emigrated to Alberta pre-war. One already had a job as a policeman, the other a prison warder.

Lewis Hughes was a very good looking man, like a lot of the family very dark - according to my father. Lewis had got his sweetheart pregnant and literally, as the Cunard liner, was easing off the landing stage at the Pier Head, the girl's father appeared and was dancing with rage on the landing stage.

Lewis did the decent thing and when he had settled down in Alberta, he sent over for her and their child and they married.

Our Canadian relatives used to visit the UK, visitng Ynys Mon and Liverpool. However, Dad's cousins in Liverpool never told him about our visiting Welsh Canadian relatives.

My maternal grandmother emigrated to Nebraska in 1905 but came back, going through Ellis Island. I was in New York 15 months ago and visiting Ellis Island was very emotional for me.

Around 1902 a branch of my surnamed forebears settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

That same surname, WEARE abounds a lot more around Canada today, and is very likely tree branches from the roots of the 1902 settling.

I corresponded with the late Leonard. R. Weare of Lavahl Drive and was given from him, the entire and updated Canada "Weares".

I live right next door to British Columbia, Canada in Alaska. Alaska is the 49th State of the USA since 1959. Prior to this Alaska was a US Territory bought for some $7.2 millions from the Russia circa 1867. Quite a deal for Real-estate.

Action adventure here in these lands is a far cry from Llangefni's Nant Y Pandy ('Dingle')and our favourite Afon Cefni River scenes and swims in my boyhood.

Here, I have had a bear take a run at me, fallen thru ice on a frozen lake and lived to tell the tale. I faced a gunman whose balance of mind was off key, and he died under police gunfire.

It is hard in these climates in Winter... And one must be aware.
