Benllech Bay
Filming Information Request

by Idris
(Newport)

I hope to do some filming in Benllech area between March 9 and 12. Can you suggest ideas for a loction looking down on the beach?

Wendon Cafe would be ideal... any chance of the owners opening it for a couple of hours? Do you have a contact number?

Dear Idris

Thanks for getting touch. First of all, Wendon is owned by Anglesey County Council and leased out to intrepid entrepreneurs who seem to specialise in hiring out aligators, as my research seems to indicate. The Council's number is (01248) 750057. Ask for the Property Section and they may able to assist.

Wendon is too low for a full beach shot and the angle far too wide so close to the beach.

However, to get a good shot of the beach, I would heartily recommend the other end of the Benllech Bay. I would further suggest that if you were to wander along the Coastal Path north you'd get a bit of height and a long shot across the bay with Llanddona as a magnificent back drop.

You could also climb the hill behind the carpark. There's a well-worn casual track that'll bring you to a bench above the beach. You can also reach this spot from the carpark above Wendon.

Also, further up from the square above the beach, there's one particular spot along the road that'll offer an excellent long shot in fine weather.

You could, if you're bold enough, ask to take a shot from the caravan park above the beach. This, I believe is best for your idea.

If you take a combination of flat beach shots and a combination of the others, then you should have a good group to edit.

I wish you the best and ask that you let me and other readers of Anglesey Hidden Gem know about your progress.

P.S. You haven't sent your email address. I only ask for it in case you have questions about other sites on Anglesey that you want to film.

Best wishes with your project,

Wil
