Anglesey Red Squirrels, Beaumaris

Hello there,

We are thinking of coming to see these Lovely Red Squirrels soon.

I have heard, there is a charge for getting into these woodlands, I have been all over your Website and couldn't find how much it will cost us.

Can you please let me know, or display the charge on this Website, for others to be aware of it,

Many Thanks

Dear Mrs Taylor

Just like that Country & Western song, No Charge.

  • Newborough Forest is free of charge,

  • Llyn Parc Mawr is free of charge,

  • Mynydd Llwydiarth at Pentraeth is free of charge.

The only places I can think you'll have to pay are Llanddwyn Beach carpark (£3). You won't see any Anglesey Red Squirrels here, by the way.

The other place is Plas Newydd Estate outside of Llanfair PG where Prince Charles (Bless hIm) came to visit our lovely little friends last year. They're on the estate so you have to pay.

Anglesey Red Squirrels are Free to Play and Free to See.

As I write on the Llyn Parc Mawr Page, there's a feeder in the car park. Exercise patience.

Also, you can check out the rusty little critters on my Anglesey Red Squirrel webcam page.

My very best wishes to you, Mrs Taylor. Have a brilliant time during your stay and I hope you return again and again.

    Wil

Way to avoid paying a fiver at Llanddwyn Beach.
    by: William Gerwyn

    Hi

Thank you for the information. Wow! It's gone up to a fiver to visit.

Please go to my Ambles & Walks page and you can find two other ways down to Llanddwyn Neach that take you through Newborough Forest.

One is the Newborough Forest Walk down my Malltraeth Cob and the other is along side the Newborough Warren.

    Keep warm

    Dogs and Red Squirrels
by: Wil form Anglesey Hidden Gem

    Dear Pat

I am a regular visitor in the Dingle in Llangefni and am always nodding to walkers and negotiating their dogs and I still see red squirrels two out of every three visits. It's getting easier as well as I now know where the feed boxes are.

Plas Newydd is a National Trust property and so will have its own rules. Hence no dogs.

People walk their dogs in Pentraeth Mynydd Llwydiarth where there are squirrels. I think that a general rule to apply with walking dogs and searching for squirrels is to keep off National Trust land and always keep an eye out for dog related information sign anywhere. Can't say I've seen signs where I've been looking for squirrels.

Autumn is a great time for Red Squirrels on Anglesey as they seem to be spending a lot of time burying their nuts.

    Best wishes

    Wil

    Red squirrel walks with dog?
    by: Pat Davies

I notice that dogs are banned at Plas Newydd. Are dogs allowed on leads on the other sites you mention as good for squirrel sightings?
